Website Creation Tips

Website creation is an art and it takes time to perfect. With it becoming easier to build a website the competition has grown fierce, which makes it difficult to compete with others sites. I have been creating websites for a little while now and still have not perfected the art, but I have learned some things that you should and should not do. Here is a list of some of the things I have learned:

Make sure each page within your site has something valuable to offer. If your pages do not offer something interesting or useful to visitors then your chance at success will dwindle at a rapid pace.

Avoid adding sleazy elements to your website. You want people to focus on your site content not things that are flying around your website. So try to avoid blinking ads, scrolling text, and pop ups at all cost, most visitors are going to leave your site if hounded by these things.

Make sure you put a lot of thought into your websites organization. Make it easy for users to find what they are looking for. Put some time into it and it will pay off.

Make sure your site is easy to navigate and always put at least a link back to the homepage on every page you create.

Make your website as readable as possible. White space is good and should not be neglected. Also make sure you are using the right color combinations for your background and text. I know it sounds like a given but there are sites out there that use eye blurring combinations that make you want to exit the page right away. Make sure you use the correct text size also, I like to stay at 12 px it just seems to be a good readable size.

Do not steal other peoples content. Not only is it not legal to copy content it will also cost you in page rank also. Just think of how you would like it if someone copied your content.

Let links come natural. Don't bug other webmasters to exchange links with you. Web masters are very busy and get annoyed when they have 1000 emails a day about link exchanges.

Website creation is my passion and I love learning new things about it everyday. Obviously there is a lot more to it then what is stated above but these tips are good to follow to earn a good name for yourself within the web community. Building a website can take time and patience and it is up to you how much time you have to spend when creating a website.
