Good Web Design Can Improve Your Business

There really is no question about it but that good web design can improve your business, but what is good web design? You see, there are just so many little things that go into a website and the actual business genre that you are in also plays in heavily with regards to how these little things are included, or excluded.

At the same time, you have to understand that web design is an art form and as with any other type of art, success can be difficult to describe. All the same though, just as with, say modern pop music, there are proven formulas or schemes that you can use to boost your odds of success.

Now the good news is that success is easy to determine when it comes to your site because you either have the numbers or you don't. That is that either you're getting an adequate and growing numbers of hits or sales or you aren't. It's as simple as that.

To begin with a good website should be easy to navigate in. That is that people should be able to move from page to page in it, and access its options freely without having to stop and think about what they're doing. So it should be uncluttered.

Now one common problem that people all too often make is what's called information overload. They so want to inform their visitors about their services or products, and end up hitting them with too much text to read which in turn scares them off. So what's the solution?

One solution is to have an informative e-book written up that they can download and read at their leisure. People love free things and you can also seize the opportunity to harvest their email address at the same time; addresses that you can use later in a marketing campaign.

Another option is to have a news option that they can click to. There are tons of online news sources that you can gather up related news stories from. Then you can fill this area of your site up with keyword laden news articles that visitors can pour over.

Remember that keyword articles help to draw traffic but at the same time you don't want to muck up your site with them. News readers on the other hand do like lots of articles to pick through, so you can stock up a good supply of them in your news section. Make sure that you tuck it away in the back of your site though.

It also sure helps if any text in your site be it on your landing page or wherever, is broken up into nice bite sized paragraphs, just like this article is. You see, people like to skim when they read online so clumping your written text into thick chunks will run a lot of visitors off.

Lastly keep in mind that no pictures or videos are better than bad pictures or videos. For one thing the search engines don't even recognize them like they do written text, so they're of absolutely no help in SEO.

Then unless you have previous experience in video production, it's only reasonable to expect that your first attempts will deliver amateurish results. Now some of the all time worst website videos feature the owner of the company talking on camera.
