Web Design Is Not Just About the Visuals

Design and visuals do walk hand in hand but, when it comes to web design, it's not just the visuals that do all the talking for the site. There are plenty of other elements that contribute towards the success of the website's design and great visuals are just one of them.

Integrating Highlights

What's a highlight? Well, in purely simplistic terms, it's something that stands out. So, if there are a series of visuals on the site, then there should be something that helps them stand out. It could be a well-written catch phrase or it can even be an image that is highlighted. This helps you focus a user's attention on what you think is important. Typically, it's the core message of the website that is highlighted over and above everything else.

The perfect color combination

Have you ever visited a site that didn't have a lot going for it in terms of visuals, but you still felt interested in looking through it. Don't be surprised. It was the color combination at work. It was the choices of various colors used on the website that were encouraging you to have a look at the website. The design of a website needs to have the perfect color selection and should be in sync with the information available on the site. There are certain color schemes that go well with certain kinds of websites. You must only choose those colors that bring out the concept of your website in all its glory and also encourage the visitors to take a positive decision if the site is an ecommerce website.

Attractive Call to Action Buttons

Most websites have a call to action button, whether it's a site selling products or services or a site offering information about a certain subject. If your call-to-action buttons are impressive, half your job is done. They must be able to create the kind of impact that prompts a visitor to click on them. If a visitor does not click on such buttons, the purpose of the website isn't served at all.

These are just some of the many elements that contribute towards an effective web design. Only focusing on the website's design is like putting all your eggs in one basket. You need to distribute the dependency of website success across other elements as well. This means, if you get certain elements wrong, there are always other elements that can do the job for you. A custom website design is the key to ensuring that you make use of diverse elements that contribute towards your website making the right impression in the mind of its visitors.
